Seems like all the pre-season hype and promise has come to naught. We’ve had been drip-fed with excitement and anticipation with our late pre-season bloom but…ultimately Liverpool floundered when it mattered most. I saw a comment on teamtalk.com’s website where a Man Utd fan said this was one of the worst performance an English team ever put in Europe.
While that might be a tad exaggerated, it is not far off either. We were horribly awful. At least Rafa didn’t try to act like there were ‘positives’ to take out of that game. It highlights the old problems that plauged us and some other new holes as well. For one, Dossena doesn’t look like he’s worth 7 million pounds. Heck he doesn’t even look like he’s worth 2 mil! Dirk Kuyt CONTINUES to frustrate Liverpool fans with his ineffective display.
When can Rafa realise that ‘hard working’ won’t ever equate to class nor ability. Here’s a sad sad clip of the match’s highlights:
3rd place for the reds? Very likely…I shall now turn my attention to the match happening this Sunday at Old Trafford…
A Liverpool Win?
(Liverpoolfc.tv)
Many pundits (and ex liverpudians) have come out. Ian Rush is one such example. He mentioned that, with the form that we’re currently experiencing, there is no reason to believe we cannot beat Man Yoo. Well Said Rusdie!
It’s easy to get carried away at times especially with the rich vein of form that Liverpool and, most notably, Torres is experiencing. Which leads up to my 2nd point of the preview…
Torres Vs Ronaldo
vs
(teamtalk.com)
Both hugely talented, both has movie star looks and both are in a rich vein of form. Of come they have some differences, one is a winger, one is a striker, one dives, one doesn’t, one organises romps in his house, one doesn’t…
It’ll be an interesting battle to see how both of them fair and the spotlight will undoubtedly fall on both of them. I expect to see Rio Ferdinand roughly up ‘El Nino’ and I get lots of ‘whining vibes’ from Ronaldo…I don’t know…we shall see this Sunday!
Won 6 league games in a row and…Torres grabbed his 20th league goal (First since Robbie Fowler in 1995-1996!). Being a Pool fan, one should be happy but some problems still persists…like the constant playing of the ineffectual Kuyt.
It is clear that he isn’t a winger, sure he crosses better them Pennant but he just does not cut it as a winger. Can’t understand the manager’s insistence on playing him despite having Benayoun in the team. BAH, a win is a win, we get the 3 points and I’m happy.
Whats funny was that the commentators were suggesting that we could make an improbable sudden entry into the title race… Since we’re to play Manchester United and Arsenal very soon, if we were to grab WINS in those, then you never know…
In just under 2 hours time (as of time of writing) Liverpool will run up against the mighty Inter at the San Siro cauldron. I will be watching this with eager anticipation!
(teamtalk.com)
Of course, liverpool are the team to watch now both on and OFF the pitch. Very exciting stuff, first, according to various sources, Hicks has vetoed the move by DIC to buy Gillete’s stake. And next Hicks denies doing so. Clearly, things are not right between Hicky, Gilette and DIC. I think Hick’s just being what he is, a greddy grubby old foogey.
On a side note, I want to say how creative Liverpool fans are. ‘Hicky Mouse’, ‘Gilette, the worse a man can get’, ‘The Liverpool Hick-up’ hehe, what will we think of next?
Oh and congratulations to Xabi Alonso! He’s a dad now and he’s not following the squad to face Inter Milan. Personally, I feel Rafa Benetiz is being AN ASS over this issue, I mean what can be more important then watching over your new born child?
Well, its about time ain’t it? Fernando Torres has won player of the month! Well-deserved honors! In a contrasting, bad news, Moyes has won manager of the month
and after that he went on and said that Rafa should be sad (understatement) that he is only competing for 4th spot. I’d hate to agree with him but its true.
Oh, and more SHOCKINGLY Fernando’s accolade is the first Liverpool player - other than Steven Gerrard - to win the award since Danny Murphy in November 2001. Is that a telling statistic or what?
So liverpool won 3-1. It was a weird match with a really weird first goal. Poor Jussi Jaaskelainen, I’ve always rated him as a top goal keeper! But that goal he conceded was really quite shocking! Still don’t understand Benetiz’s insistence on playing Kuyt as right winger…
In not so good news, Everton thumped Pompey 3-1 to remain in the oh-so-coveted-4th-spot. Bah! I watched that match and I really can’t help but really admire the stength, resillience and temerity of the Toffees. Ayegbeni Yakubu look more and more like a top top striker…c’mon Benitez do something already!
Speculation continues to be rife on whether Benitez will leave or not. To some, its a matter of when he will leave rather then will he leave or not…
…personally I’d rather see him move up. I’m a Liverpool fan but the prospect of Jose Mourinhno managing Liverpool really does excite me. Liverpool has been playing way below par for the recent games and we shouldn’t be performing that way with the quality of the players we have!
Transfer News
Liverpool fans have one reason to be happy. Shit-soko looks set to move to Juventus! I don’t know what Ranieri sees in him but I personally don’t care. Liverpool has also secured the services of 23-year-old Skrtel from Zenith St. Petersburg.
‘Le Sulk’ has signed for Chelsea…and get this, he is officially the world’s costliest player! Anelka’s move to Chelsea makes him the world’s costliest player, with seven clubs having paid a total of £86.8m in transfer fees!
